Surf Life Saving is unique in that it provides opportunities for competitors to participate in the broadest range of sport activities. 

Training for our seniors is currently on at 4pm each Tuesday and Friday at the Ulverstone SLSC.

Surf Carnivals

Our surf sports events are usually divided into Nipper and Senior carnivals, and include a variety of physical-based races. Senior carnivals include competitors aged U15 through to Opens. The events run include;

  • Ski Paddling
  • Beach Events
  • Surf Swimming
  • Surf Boats
  • Board paddling
  • Ironperson Events

Life Saving Championships

Once reaching U15s, lifesavers may compete in the Life Saving Championships which involves a series of events which focus on the specific lifesaving skills learnt through our Bronze Medallion.  These events include;

  • First Aid Competition
  • Patrol Competition
  • Champion Lifesaver

Endurance Events

In between our surf sports carnivals, there is a variety of Ocean Swim events and Surf craft marathons throughout the season. These include but are not limited to;

  • Ski Marathons, including the North West Marathon
  • Still water competition (pool)
  • Ocean Swim series, including the notable Pub 2 Club Swim (hosted by Devonport SLSC) and the Penguin Island Swim (hosted by Port Sorell SLSC)

Championships

State Championships for Surf Life Saving Tasmania are usually held around March each year. 

The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, also known as the Aussies, is going to be held in Perth, Western Australia in April 2023.
