Joined in the 1980's sometime - it was a long time ago!! Loved the beach, loved the team work, patrolling and the people, plus the social side of things was an added bonus.
The Club and the beach was a second home to me, especially over the summer months.
Fun times competing in March Past, R & R Events, Board and swimming.
Competed in Hobart Surf Safaris, North West Surf Marathons in the rowing events.
Being involved in the George Bass in 1990 was a highlight, as part of the back up crew to assist the boys rowing. An event that everyone involved will never forget. A fantastic Ulverstone Team effort.
Loved the trips away, camping and competing.

When I did patrol, it was with a great fun bunch of members, lots of laughs, beach cricket games, while all the time learning different aspects of patrolling, lifesaving and keeping the beach safe.

Teams events, boat rowing was probably my favourite, coming from a skinny boat background in rowing, just loved the team work, training and comradery.
Loved the surf!!

Giving back to the community.
The Ulverstone Surf Club has given me so much over many years, and so if I can repay, support and nurture the next generation so that they can enjoy the safety, fellowship and great times going forward.

I have served on the Committee in past years, been involved in club caterings/counter meals from the very beginning. Competitor, Patrolling Member, Catering, Bar Work, and Cleaning.
A bit of everything.
Heavily involved in the Development Camps with catering for about 8 years or more.
Now I am more of a social member, helping where I can.

The People.
The long term friendships made over the years, seeing kids develop and shine. It is a great place for families, generations have been involved.
The Ulverstone Club House has the best view in the State. What an inspirational place to be, looking out of the window at the beach, surf etc. Where else can you enjoy a quiet drink and social get together on a Friday night with a view that we are so lucky to have.
Nippers become competitors, bronze holders, etc, then become parents, bring their children, then become Grand Parents, and so the generations continue to keep the Ulverstone Club as a great place to grow up, learn and experience so much.

Organise warm, sunny weather.
Ensure the club and the beach is neat, tidy and organised.
Lots of work done behind the scenes in the weeks, days leading up to the carnival. Communication is key.
Call on help and assistance from all areas of the Club membership.
